What attractions are nearby?

In Herand, you will find the Cultural History Centre featuring the exhibition "A Journey Through 9000 Years" (Ei reise gjennom 9000 år), which offers a great introduction to local history, rock carvings, and the area's nature. When is the reception open?

The reception is open from 08:00 (8am) to 22:00 (10pm). During certain periods it may be unattended, but you can always contact us by phone.

Can I book a pitch for a motorhome or tent?

→

A limited number of motorhome pitches can be booked online via our website. The remaining motorhome pitches and tent pitches can be booked by contacting us by phone or email.

How far is it to Trolltunga?

→

It takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to drive to Trolltunga from Vassel Gård.

When do the fruit trees blossom?

→

The blossoming season varies from year to year. Sweet cherry trees usually blossom in early May, while pear and apple trees are often in full bloom during the last two weeks of May.

Is there a grocery store nearby?

Are pets allowed?

Yes, pets are welcome in the camping cabins (shared facilities) and in the camping area. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the cabins with private bathrooms.

When is the campsite open?

The campsite is open from May 19th to September 15th, 2026.

When is check-in and check-out?

→

Check-in is from 15:00. Check-out is by 11:00 for cabins and by 12:00 for motorhomes.

Can I hike to Samlen from Vassel gård?

→

Yes, you can start the hike directly from Vassel gård. There is also parking available at the trailhead itself, about a 10-minute drive away. Read more here: https://ut.no/turforslag/1112468/asleite-samlen

Can I park my car by the cabin?

Yes, there is free parking next to all cabins.

Is it possible to drive to the Folgefonna glacier?

→

Yes, the road is fully accessible for both regular cars and motorhomes. The drive takes about 45 minutes from Vassel gård. The road up to the glacier is an experience in itself, offering several spectacular viewpoints. There are ample parking facilities at the glacier area.
